Boston Kendo Kyokai is the oldest kendo dojo in Massachusetts. Established in 1980, BKK provides kendo instruction for the residents of Greater Boston. Organized as a non-profit corporation, Boston Kendo Kyokai is dedicated to the advancement of Kendo, the Art of Japanese Fencing. Visiting kenshi are always welcome.
Boston Kendo Kyokai respects the inherent worth and dignity all people regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, creed, gender, age or sexual orientation. Our mission is to foster friendship and goodwill through the wonderful experience of kendo.
Practice is lead by instructors Mr. David Harrison, 5 dan kendo, Ms. Toshimi Yoshida, 5 dan kendo, Mr. Rich Sisitsky, 4 dan kendo and Mr. Sang Woo Chi 4 dan kendo.
Mr. Harrison is one of the original members of Boston Kendo and has been its leader since 1992. Mr. Harrison stresses the importance of fundamental practice and basic technique as the foundation for development in Kendo.
Boston Kendo Kyokai is a member dojo of the All Eastern United States Kendo Federation (AEUSKF) and the All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF).
